Your Questions Answered #3
This month’s question is answered by Jaz Isaacs (she/her), Project Lead - Carer Recruitment at Anglicare Victoria.
Question:
"What supports are available to help carers fit caring in around work and family life?"
Many foster carers work and have their own families. It can certainly take some juggling, but you won’t do it alone.
All Victorian foster carers have dedicated case management and on-call support, financial reimbursement, specialist training, wellbeing support, and respite when needed.
Most children attend school during the day, and after-school care or babysitting can help with schedules.
Other supports are tailored to the household’s needs and carers often shape what they require. Every placement starts with a conversation about ‘how could this work?’ and there’s regular check-ins with your agency.
If you’re wondering how foster care might fit into your life, you don’t need to figure it out alone. Start with phone call and tailored advice from a professional. We’re here to help!
